Recurring Ear Infection in a 12-Year-Old Dog

For a long time, the dog had suffered from recurring Otitis externa on both ears which generally was resistant to any treatment. Now it had become so bad, that it was impossible to either clean his ears or to apply ear drops, without him screaming and biting.

Because of the bad smell and the badly affected mood of the animal, the owner was thinking of euthanasia.

Therapy: Hepar sulf.C12 every day one dose and BIOPTRON once daily for 4 minutes on each ear (lifting of the earlobes). Because of the device’s humming noise, the distance was increased to 20cm. After the second treatment the dog was willing, obviously feeling the treatment as comfortable and soothing.

Result: After 3 days it was possible to carefully clean the ears without too much reaction against pain. The smell had almost disappeared. After one week the treatment was reduced to two times per week. After one month the ears were completely healed, only showing scars, knots and folds in the ear canals, which obstruct the flow of serum and make regular cleaning necessary. From here onwards Bioptron Light was used the moment any itching started. No serious Otitis occurred until the dog’s death at the age of 16 years.
