Dog Ankle Fracture With Skin and Muscle Damage

Dear Christine,

Our dog had an accident recently and broke the ankle joint of the rear left leg, there was a bone protruding and extensive skin loss and muscle damage.

The initial vet visit put the bone back together via pin and wire attached to a bolt.

One of the biggest problems we had was the loss of skin and the possibility of grafting was mentioned, however, the Bioptron light was used on the damaged areas daily with the bandage changes.

The vet was surprised at how quickly the wounds healed and there was no infection in the wounds at all, despite the ankle bone being visible for a few weeks as the skin repaired itself with what’s called granulation tissue.

We also used the light on specific areas that related to meridian energy lines using the coloured lenses that came with the light, whenever we did this our dog calmly stood there lapping up the colour show that was for her benefit.

After six weeks the entire damaged area was covered and our dog is ready for the bolt and wire to be removed, we need to wait eight weeks for an assured bone knit.

The fact that our dog now uses her leg after six weeks means she will not have a problem with the removal of the hardware which is still protruding from the joint.

There has been no sign of infection and healing has been rapid as the vet has noticed, I put a majority of this success with the use of the Bioptron light.
