Daphne’s Severely Infected Leg Ulcers

SUBJECT: BIOPTRON TREATMENT OF SEVERELY INFECTED LEG ULCERS

This is a testimonial about the incredible recovery of my severely ulcerated legs.

In January 2000, whilst working in the garden, I scratched both of my legs on a rose bush. Within a couple of weeks, both my legs became badly infected. Despite treatment with antibiotics and prednisone, there was a steady deterioration of both my legs. The legs became excruciatingly painful, especially my left leg. The pain became so unbearable that in the end I was admitted to Middlemore Hospital.

During my one-week stay in the hospital, I was put on morphine and topical treatment on my legs but to no avail. After one week I was sent home still in considerable pain. I was reduced to using a walker for support and needless to say I was not allowed to drive my car anymore.

I was sent home with referrals to various specialists as there was nothing the hospital could do for me. My life had come to an abrupt halt. I was housebound and had to depend on others for shopping and going to the doctor. Despite continuing morphine treatment I spent most of my time in bed in much pain.

After an agonising period of treatment and trials by specialists at Manukau Super Clinic, Greenlane Hospital and daily visits by a district nurse, trying various bandages and dressings, the ulcers continued to grow in size. Basically, I was told that nobody had any answers and all they could do was try different creams and lotions.

In the end, my GP's practice nurse told me to try the Bioptron Light Therapy she had heard about from a friend who had good results healing a small leg ulcer. I don't know how they tracked you down Karel but somehow they did and you were asked if you were willing to treat me.

Over a two-week period I was treated in the surgery twice a day Monday to Friday with an hour between each treatment. Initially, it appeared to get worse but then suddenly a change took place and improvement started. After two weeks of treatment, there was a two-week period with no treatment. My brother was able to borrow a light from a stud farm where he worked and for six weeks I was treated twice a day during each weekday.

Mid October, after a nine-week treatment period, both legs were completely healed and no recurrence has taken place since. This remarkable recovery was unbelievable to many people who knew about my struggles. Needless to say, I am now very happy to tell anybody about this fantastic light treatment.
