Dear Sir, May 28, 2000
You may be interested to read of my positive experience of your company's BIOPTRON light therapy in a wound-healing application. I wish to be thorough about this so this letter is quite lengthy and some details may read unpleasantly for some.
There are many modern therapies offered today and I am always sceptical and cautious about many of the claims made for them. However, I must say that BIOPTRON has just won my belief and confidence very convincingly. Here's why: [Do not read this description if you are squeamish. Go straight to the conclusion]
Just ten days before writing this I suffered a severe injury to my left index finger. Whilst assembling a commercial display of high-class kitchen knives I managed, during a moment of inattention, to drive the large prong of carving fork fully through my finger. The prong entered the side of the finger adjacent to the thumb at the top knuckle, glanced off the bone and came out through the centre of the fingertip. My hand was thus impaled on the fork which was fixed to the display. I did further damage by instinctively trying to pull my hand away quickly on feeling the pain. After carefully slipping my finger free I immediately applied first aid by way of antisepsis, ice and pressure. I managed to stop the profuse bleeding after about 20 minutes and secured the wound with an appropriate dressing. The emergency clinic could do little to help as the wound was unstitchable.
That evening I used a borrowed Bioptron light on the wound. Not because I felt any conviction that it would help but more because it seemed harmless and I had nothing to lose anyway. The first thing I noticed after the treatment was the relief from stinging and pain. That certainly appealed to me!
I used the Bioptron twice daily after that and can only express my astonishment at the speed at which my wounded finger healed.
By the end of day three the swelling and tenderness was noticeably reduced. By the end of day four the exit wound was fully closed and healing well. I had the dressing off for day five and the entry wound had almost closed. Tenderness was bearable and I had almost full flexing of the finger again. The healing continued noticeably on day six and I was aware of only minor discomfort.
At the end of day seven I could only marvel that the entry and exit wounds were healed to the point where I could use my hand almost normally. There was no significant internal swelling or intolerable tenderness.
I found it hard to believe that only seven days previously I had had the prong of a carving fork right through my finger causing a very distressing wound that I had expected to be two or three weeks in healing with all the attendant discomfort.
I continued using the Bioptron for another few days but only to consolidate the healing because in fact on day eight I had virtually forgotten the injury, so well had it healed!
Really all that remained was a line of roughish skin along what had been the torn entry wound, and minor soreness if I happened to knock it or press too hard. Quite tolerable. There were no internal lumps of tissue. I had full use of my finger!
It should also be noted that there had never been the slightest sign of infection in my stabbed finger. Also I had used no other treatment, only the Bioptron light and the Oxy Spray which I used generously before and after each treatment.
It would be difficult to place a value on the tremendous sense of relief I feel at having gotten over a major wound to my finger with so little discomfort and inconvenience. My thoughts at the time of the accident were of all sorts of dire consequences. But by using BIOPTRON light therapy I had accomplished the healing of a very nasty wound in about half of the time I would normally have expected - and without most of the usual pain and discomfort.
I said I wished to be thorough so I would like it noted that there was nothing psychosomatic about the healing because I had started using the BIOPTRON light without feeling confident that it was going to work. I was open-minded.
But there is something that perhaps made me and may make others sceptical about BIOPTRON. It is that on first seeing or using the device it looks merely a yellow light. It's hard to imagine that anything is happening within one's flesh. But from my recent positive experience with the use of the light, as just described, it becomes obvious that there must very definitely be something happening within the tissue and cell structure exposed to the light. This would be in keeping with the biological explanation as described in the BIOPTRON handbook. And as far as I'm concerned it's all good! Thank you Zepter and Bioptron.
You may use this letter or relevant excerpts, unaltered, as a testimonial to the remarkable healing effects of the BIOPTRON light in the treatment of wounds. And it seems reasonable to expect that the Bioptron would also be very effective in the treatment of other conditions as described in the handbook.
Yours Sincerely,
David C. Christian
